Nominee statement
Respective members of APNIC,First of all, let me introduce myself. I'm Andri, Mukhammad Andri Setiawan, currently serving as the head of the Training and Community Development unit of Indonesia Network Information Center (IDNIC) for the 2018-2021 term. I'm also currently working as the CIO of Universitas Islam Indonesia, with my biggest task is managing Digital Transformation in Universitas Islam Indonesia. These two roles have definitely improved my understanding a lot on how to implement the technology, how to manage people and lead them to the digital transformation, and how to accelerate the communities in dealing with the ever-changing technologies.
I'm offering myself for this year's election as I believe that EC will be the right position for me to channel my passion to make an impact on technology adoption in the Asia Pacific and also promoting community engagement and collaboration among many organizations. In the early term, during my service to IDNIC, I have been successfully promoting the use of IPv6 to a few major universities and government bodies in Indonesia and help Indonesia to leap forward for IPv6 adoption. I've been using my position as the CIO in the university, my role in infrastructure team in Indonesia Research Education Network (IdREN), and my role as consultants for some government bodies to convince them the benefit of implementing IPv6.
I've also been involving a lot in the Asia Pacific community in the APAN (Asia Pacific Advanced Network), the research education network community in the Asia Pacific. This community involvement has introduced me to lots of new opportunities in collaboration works that connect multiple entities in the Asia Pacific.
In summary, I offer my best experiences and knowledge to improve the internet experience across the Asia Pacific and I nominate myself to be part of the Executive Council of APNIC.
Mukhammad Andri Setiawan (Andri),
13 January 2020
Nominated by
- Organization
- APJII (Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia)
Reason for nomination
I believe that he is a suitable person to be one of the EC in APNIC. Why is that? Here are few important items to consider.First of all, a brief introduction. Mukhammad Andri Setiawan (Andri) is an active committee member of IDNIC (Indonesia Network Information Center) and he is now serving as the head of Training and Community sub-unit at IDNIC. During his time in IDNIC (and he's still doing one), he has shown great achievement in delivering training programs and community engagement. He has shown the eagerness to help Indonesia to leap forward in technology adoption through means of workshop and training that were delivered by IDNIC. One example is that after he got the responsibility to manage the IPv6 training, the number of IDNIC members that implemented IPv6 not only in their core networks but to all clients has increased tenfold.
At the moment, Andri is wearing "multiple hats", not only he is active in the internet community in Indonesia, but he is also working closely with Research Education Network in Indonesia (IdREN) and quite active with the Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) community. He utilized his multiple roles to create more engagement among industries, such as Higher Educations, Governments, and also internet Industries. He demonstrated well his collaboration spirit through his community works.
His eagerness to improve internet technologies in Indonesia also paid off, as he is often to be invited to share his expertise among the same industries or even different kind of industries by governments, vendors, and also higher education.
His education background supports his ability to achieve such an achievement. He received his master's degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and received his doctoral degree from the University of Queensland, Australia.

I am Sumon Ahmed Sabir, current Policy SIG Chair of APNIC. I’m involved with APNIC activity since 1998 and a regular attendee at APNIC members meetings since 2005. I feel honored to be nominated for APNIC EC election. I have accepted the nomination and now looking for support from the community.
In my day job, I am working as Chief Technology Officer, Fiber@Home Limited, running one of the largest telecommunication transmission network and Internet Gateway in Bangladesh. Besides this, I’m very much committed to our local & international NOGs, IXPs and non-profit organizations. For a long time I have been participating in such crucial technical issues with several governmental bodies for policy development, related to Cyber Security, RPKI, IPv6 etc. Being part of the Core-Com Member we have done tremendous successful events in the last 15 years in all over South Asia through South Asian Network Operators Group (SANOG). It remains as a huge opportunity for the engineers for capacity building, sharing of knowledge and collaboration. Based on this success story of SANOG, in present days many local NOGs were created in all over Asia and performing successfully. I was also a MAG member and regular contributor in many IGF events.
APNIC covers one of the largest areas in the world, with diverse people, language and culture. Working as their voice in APNIC, requires a high level of techno-policy knowledge and hands-on experience. Also as a part of the community member, I discovered the challenges of the local entrepreneurs, academia and engineers which is different kind in every economy. I believe through APNIC these challenges can be minimized, where strong leadership and capacity building activity is extremely necessary. I would like to contribute my knowledge, experience and expertise to APNIC Community by serving as an EC Member in the coming days.

Bringing all ISPs together and setting up BDIX (Bangladesh Internet Exchange Point) is another notable achievement for Sumon.
